Terrine, dish, plate, creamer, pourer, chocolate maker, etc. take us to the 18th century table. From objects in the collection that have lost their original use, we will make you discover recipes of the «Cuisinier roïal et bourgeois» by François Massiliot published in 1691 and many times republished. Luxury products, tea, chocolate and coffee are exotic drinks that are becoming increasingly popular at the 18th… At the table!

About the location

Musée Vouland
17 rue Victor-Hugo 84000 Avignon
  • Vaucluse
  • Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The only museum of decorative arts in Avignon and its region, the Vouland Museum immerses you in the intimate atmosphere of a 20th century collector’s residence. Its remarkable collection of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries is presented in a mansion of the nineteenth century a few steps from the ramparts and the Rhone. The garden to the south, unsuspected street side, is a delicious haven to continue the visit, refuge of the League of Protection of Birds. The purpose of the museum is also to discover the arts of the region, past and present. The current exhibition is dedicated to the Avignon landscape painter Auguste Roure (1878-1936), known as «the painter of the garrigues and pebbles».
