Visit of the sorting center of La Millière - Marseille (13)
In this year 2023, the European Heritage Days put at the heart of their 40th edition, the promotion of "Living Heritage". And at the same time, Veolia is celebrating 170 years of history.
Two reasons to open our sites (sorting or energy recovery centers, drinking water production plants, wastewater treatment plants etc.) that belong to our industrial and ecological heritage, where knowledge and knowledgeto protect the environment are passed on from one generation to another.
By visiting these unknown and even unsuspected places, immerse yourself in their history and, more broadly, in the history of the environment. A history that has written itself, at the same time as our modern societies have formed since the Second Industrial Revolution.
In Marseille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, the sorting platform of La Millière ensures the reception, sorting and transfer of waste from 8 districts to Marseille and the municipality of Allauch for their recycling and recovery.
Veolia offers its local authorities and industrial customers adapted and innovative solutions to ensure the global management of all types of waste, from collection to recovery in the form of materials or energy, in line with a circular economy approach:
- Sorting, recycling and recovery via dedicated facilities equipped with increasingly efficient technologies, household waste and ordinary industrial waste
- Development of sectors that allow it to reintroduce secondary materials produced in the economy
- Transforming organic matter into compost to return it to the earth
- Production of heat and electricity from stored or incinerated waste.
