With his soft voice, filmmaker René Allio (1924-1995) evokes with emotion Marseille, his hometown. He lovingly films the city-monument in all its forms: stairs, crossings, secret gardens, old villages turned neighborhoods. In a tramway, he talks about the journeys that lead from the countryside to the sea, during which he dreamed as a child. He leaves on the "light traces" of his ancestors. The geography of the city and its sociology are the main object of this film exploration.
