Musée La Banque - Hyères

For its participation in the 40th edition of the 2023 Heritage Days, the La Banque Museum will be open for free on Saturday, September 16 from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm, as well as on Sunday, September 17, from 2 pm to 6 pm. It is the opportunity to discover or rediscover the exhibition Man Ray, the good weather, through the passage of the surrealist at the villa Noailles in 1929 for the realization of the film The Mysteries of the castle of Dé, as well as the summer holidays spent in the South with Picasso, Paul Eluard or Ady Fidelin and Roland Penrose, at the Garoupe between 1936 and 1937.

In the heart of the city centre, the Hyères Museum, The Bank, Museum of Cultures and Landscape, is reborn in the old and majestic annex of the Bank of France, a remarkable space of neoclassical and art deco style, dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The building with its contemporary rehabilitation and respectful of its architectural heritage is a privileged setting for collections classified as «Musée de France». In this mysterious place closed for almost 20 years, the visitor is now invited to discover works of art at the turn of the vault or other atypical spaces such as the central patio glazed or the auxiliary cash. Among the more than 8,000 objects in the museum’s eclectic collections, the permanent collection on the first floor contains elements from each of them. The museum discourse tells the story of Hyères through the evolution of its landscape and its activities.
