Through the history of the industrial era, the museum presents the main aspects of a true adventure that, through periods of prosperity and crisis, continues, since the 18th century, to shape the history of the country and the life of its inhabitants. The industrial activity of the Pays d'Apt is characterized by the transformation of the three main natural resources of the region: ochre, to manufacture color pigments, clay for earthenware and architectural ceramics, the fruit crops for making candied fruits. The collection of history and archaeology traces the history of human societies in the country of Apt from prehistory to the eighteenth century, following two threads: the history of ceramics and material life, as well as the history of religious beliefs and spiritual life. Alongside the archaeological collections, painted ex-votos, pharmaceutical earthenware, donatives and furniture from the old hospital of Apt are presented.
