This work is the result of a meeting with yak shepherds from the Manang region of Nepal. Purba welcomed me and taught me his profession. Between my shepherd practice in France and his in the Himalayas, we built a bridge. I helped him as best I could day after day. Khansa, Raju, Dorje, Pau Rôti, Thaku and many others also accepted and taught me what it meant to live in the heart of the Himalayas on high altitude pastures at 4500m during the sixteen months spent with them.
