This church, one of the oldest in Avignon, was financed in the early 14th century by Pope John XXII and rebuilt in the 15th century.
Sunday 17 September 2023 at 14:30: Auditions by organist Jean-Michel Robbe of Sacred Music and Organ in Avignon: Works by Bach, Schumann, Nadia Boulanger, Vierne.
Organs are part of the cultural life of the city and are an integral part of its living heritage.
In order to once again highlight the wealth of the City of Avignon’s organist heritage, the association Musique Sacrée et Orgue en Avignon participates in the 2023 European Heritage Days, whose theme is this year Le Patrimoine Vivant. It offers, with the help of its organists, to all those who wish, to discover or rediscover some instruments, with different aesthetics, in a panorama that will cover centuries of music.

This church, rising among the oldest in Avignon, saw its reconstruction financed at the beginning of the 14th century by Pope John XXII and was redesigned in the 15th century. Among the most important works preserved there are the altarpiece of the Doni, the chapel of the Brantes, the large white marble holy-bird of the fifteenth century, the Coronation of the Virgin of Simon de Châlons (1539) and an Adoration of the shepherds of Nicolas Mignard (around 1650).
