Participatory project and discovery of Jas Girard
Since May 2017, at the rate of two projects per year, the volunteers of the associations VieLaJoie, Tous à Poêle and the inhabitants of the Méouge have rebuilt the jas Girard to make it a shelter open to all for long-term hikers, Sunday walkers, climbers, mushroom pickers... With two construction sites per year, they have given life to this remarkable hut by finding the gestures of the dry stone technique and collecting most of the materials (stones, trees of the framework, brooms) around. They cleared the boxwood which invaded the surroundings, went up the dry stone walls, laid framework which they covered with sheets, reopened, cleared and marked the paths to arrive at the jas, installed a water recovery tank, arranged the surroundings, built the interior calade, made furniture (tables, benches, berths), installed a stove and a pantry and covered the roof with thatch broom. This project received the support of the municipalities of Salérans, Eourres and the Regional Park of Baronnies Provençales. On the program of this last project: we will finish the covering of the thatched roof of broom, install the cap of the jas, continue the dressing of the dry stone tank, complete the marking of the paths, ...
