Its foundation surely predates 1160\. It had received donations from the seigneurs of Ponchâteau and Roche-Bernard before that date. It was commissioned at the beginning of the 16th century. An abbot, Nicolas de COLLEDO, rebuilt the abbey house at the end of the 16th century. In 1652, another abbot brought in Benedictines from Saint Maur to revive the old piety. The cloister is probably from this time. After having asked several times (in 1674, 1676 and 1693) to leave the dilapidated monastery, the religious rebuilt their monastery. Repairs to the church were completed in 1719 and the buildings and cloister were rebuilt in 1743.
