Visit of the convent of Saint Francis - fresco of Maurice Denis and "treasures of the Carmelites"
Behind its large walls on Rue Pasteur, this place was a Carmel and now hosts Franciscan friars. These days are an opportunity to discover beyond the walls, a religious community of Franciscan friars (Saint Francis of Assisi) present since 2002. Our presence is to continue a life of prayer, to give time to those who pass, ask for hospitality. We received this place that keeps jewels like the fresco of Maurice Denis (1930) - a sketch of which is in the museum of Cholet and some memories of the Carmelite sisters remained for a century (1st stone laid in 1886). Did you know that during World War I, German officers were held prisoner here instead of sisters!
Through a guided tour, an opportunity presents itself for the curious to discover the place and the presence of the brothers while spending a nice time. At 3pm, in the church we will offer a concert on Saturday and Sunday, concert of Christian current music. This beautiful batisse requires constant work and the bell tower in particular - to help a flea market is organized in favor of its restoration.
