The Hotel de Grimoüard was built in 1741 for the knight Pierre-Marthe de Grimoüard, lord of Guinefolle, reusing the basements of the previous residence, named the Black Head or the Ecu de France. Following an agreement made in 1804, the hotel was acquired by the City in 1807; it was then used for the lodging of the clergy of Notre-Dame and, from 1824 to 1895, served as a town hall. The remarkable points of this house are the entrance hall, its up-to-date staircase and its old vaulted cellars on two levels that the students of the Lycée Rabelais will be happy to make you discover.
