In 1471 the city was built by King Louis XI: 1 mayor + 30 aldermen. A first townhouse was then built near the Pont des Sardines. Then this «townhouse» is transferred several times and in various places of the city. In 1894, the municipality bought the property of Mr. Chabot de Pechebrun, notable of Fontenay. The bourgeois house was built in 1864 on the site of the former Cordeliers convent. The interior design in town hall is carried out by the architect Abel Filuzeau. Inside, you can admire the entrance hall, the wedding room and the office dedicated to Mr. Mayor. Continue your visit by the gardens of the City Hall, space of 12 619 m2. It is a typical English landscape garden of the middle of the 19th century so dear to Napoleon III. A non geometric garden that favors the irregularity with curved lines, natural effects, winding paths and streams, a basin, a rockery... He also kept some «factories», these miniatures of buildings very trendy of this romantic era.

Apart from the guided tours, the City Hall is free to enter. A municipal delegation will be present to welcome visitors.
