Musée de la 2ème Guerre mondiale Roger Bellon

1870: to fight and repel the Prussian army, Leon Gambetta, Minister of the Interior of the Government of National Defence decides to constitute troops. General Emile de Kératry was then in charge of raising an army of Breton volunteers. He chose Conlie as his site. Thus, from October 1870 to January 1871, a gigantic camp - located on the land in the middle of which the Roger Bellon Museum of the Second World War is located today - will welcome more than 50,000 Bretons (some sources even suggest the figure of 80,000). But these thousands of men will receive virtually no weapons or military training…
On Saturday, September 17, at 2 pm, Laurent Cargouet will evoke this story while showing what was the site of this camp.
It is advisable to book either by phone (02 43 29 39 49) or by email (musee.bellon@wanadoo.fr).
Finally, the wearing of a fluorescent safety vest is advised. (departure of this "Stroll in history" of the Museum of the 2nd World War Roger Bellon - place to withdraw to the reception of the museum).
