The old church of Saint-Nicolas, dating from the 15th century, had become too cramped. From the middle of the 18th century, they thought of rebuilding. As early as 1805, the parishioners demanded the restoration of the church. We have to wait for the restoration before we really think about the reconstruction. The architect OGEE had a neo-classical church project adopted in 1825\. But in 1836, the new parish priest of Saint-Nicolas, Félix Fournier, imposed the architect Alexandre PIEL, who chose the return to the Gothic of the thirteenth century.
