About the location

Vieux château (musée d'art naïf)
Place de la Trémoille, 53000 Laval
  • Mayenne
  • Pays de la Loire
The Musée d'Art Naïf et d'Arts Singuliers At the time of its creation, in 1967, the Musée d'Art Naïf et d'Arts Singuliers was the first and only French establishment dedicated to Naïve Art. The Château de Laval serves as a setting for this exceptional collection that presents the work of major self-taught artists such as Henri Rousseau. During your visit, you will be led to discover these little-known artistic currents whose works are characterized by exuberance of forms and colors, relationships of scale and unusual perspectives, as well as an abundance of details. At the museum, you will also discover singular artists whose work is halfway between Naive Art and Art Brut. Through numerous plastic innovations, these extraordinary artists bring a new breath to the self-taught creation.
