It was a marshy island which was provided in the XVIIIth century for the traders enriched in the «wood trade of ebony». Buildings, the most elegant (balconies, mascarons) and of a beautiful architectural unity(unit), seem to sometimes challenge the laws of balance! Today, the island is not any more an island: between 1926 and 1938, it was attached to the city by the filling of the arms of the Loire.
