Visit of the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste
A primitive church already exists in the Middle Ages (1050) in this suburb outside the city walls. In the 13th century it became a parish church. From 1425 to 1450 major works were undertaken: "Saint John was rebuilt to new." The present church keeps the lines and proportions given at that time: the interior with three naves, the south door with a blazing ogive, the bell tower copied on that of Notre-Dame. The 19th century is a period of embellishment with a careful interior decoration: the organ, the high altar on plan by Octave de Rochebrune, a Pietà… The church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste was classified as a historical monument in 1906. The students of the Lycée Notre-Dame are at your disposal to make you discover this place.
