Mont Michel is a 4-hectare wooded area located in the heart of the city of Bellegarde. In 2021, the city initiated a program to secure and valorize the site with the technical support of the National Office of Forests and the financial support of the Leader fund (Europe, Occitanie Region, PETR garrigues-costières de Nîmes, departmental council of Gard). Fire protection, removal of unstable trees, creation of a marked trail, installation of signage and information furniture (landscape reading, geology, history, botany, terroir, etc.), arboretum, installation of nest boxes, silhouettes of birds to look for, The main actions of this programme, which was completed at the beginning of summer 2023, are the creation of a smartphone app for young people.
