About the location

Église Sainte-Anastasie de Russan
6 rue de l'église, 30190 Sainte-Anastasie
  • Gard
  • Occitanie
In the heart of the hamlet of Russan, this church was built in 1681 with the agreement of the bishop of Uzès. The church has preserved its 19th century decorations as well as the remains of 17th century decorations. Most of the decoration is of neoclassical inspiration. There is a large painting by the painter Xavier Sigalon dating from 1807, classified as Historical Monuments. The latter has been restored and is currently on display at the town hall. The building has a single nave with two chapels forming a transept, and is covered with a barrel vault supported by a doubleau. In 1830, a steeple-wall with a curved pediment was erected in place of the old one.
