This tower is in fact the keep of a fortress built in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries by Philip IV the Fair to control the access of the bridge Saint-Bénezet, crossing the Rhone and connecting the empire to the kingdom.
The tower was of vital strategic importance and still bears witness to this war period. The exhibition «Mémoire de tour» completes the restitution space of the Pont d'Avignon in 3D presented in Avignon.
