At the end of the 17th century, the royal treasury, composed of several buildings, was transferred to Montpellier. Around 1700 and 1751, it was transformed into a town hall by the architect Jacques Cubizol then Pierre Dardailhon, according to the plans of the architect of King Louis XIV, Augustin Charles Daviler. The objective is to harmonize the whole by reshaping, in particular, the facade on street. In a classical style, it rises on two levels with large openings. A monumental staircase with four nuclei opens onto the courtyard.
