In 1855, a private individual had a first building built for bull races. Construction of the stone amphitheatre began in 1885 and was completed in 1932\. At the end of the 19th century, the free race underwent a profound transformation, mainly due to the crossing of Camargue bulls with Spanish bulls. The fighting spirit of animals led to the professionalization of razeteurs, and gradually various regulations were introduced. At that time, Provençal races were organized in the arenas, whose creator was Etienne Boudin, nicknamed Pouly I, originally from Beaucaire. These races consisted of alternating jumps and cape passes, the laying of banderilles and sometimes a mock killing... Today, free races take place in these arenas that bear the name of a famous manadier (Camargue bull breeder) born in Beaucaire in 1905.
