Charles Questel won the architectural competition for the construction of a new parish church at the age of 28. Inspired by the Romanesque churches of the South, Questel was responsible for the design of the church’s architecture, furniture and decoration.

This place of worship, built by Charles Questel from 1835, is the first example of neo-Romance architecture in France. The internal decorations(sets), of Byzantine inspiration, are the work of a pupil of famous Ingres, Hippolyte Flandrin. His(Her,Its) remarkable organ is signed Aristide Cavaillé-Coll.
