Domus de Cieutat
Allée Julien Laudet, 32800 Eauze
At the entrance of the archaeological site of the domus of Cieutat, in the former station of Eauze, an interpretation center is now installed. It is an excellent starting point for a better understanding of the history of the three sites that make up the «ELUSA Ancient Capital» ensemble. The modern and innovative scenography offers several interactive tools, including a virtual re-enactment film.
Between 2001 and 2012 excavations were carried out in Eauze in the heart of an archaeological reserve of about twenty hectares. They brought to light the remains of a domus, built in the third century of our era. Around the year 350, the owner would have decided to enlarge it: this is the time of the splendour of the building, which then reaches nearly 2,700 m². Slightly elevated from the streets, the house enjoys a prominent position in the aristocratic quarter in which it is inserted.
