About the location

Château de Fondat
1638 route de Créon, 40240 Saint-Justin

  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The castle of Fondat, former English seigneurial fief passes in the thirteenth to the princely family of Béarn. Ravaged by the English in the 14th century and by the wars of religion in the 16th century, thanks to the 2,000 golden dukes donated by King Henry IV, it was acquired and rebuilt in 1607 by Jehan de Malartic.
In the XVIII and XIX Fondat is the place of the people of letters. The park of Fondat and its "royal" trees is quoted in their poems.
In the second half of the 19th century, it is re-facade while keeping its 17th century interior architecture.
The Grand Pavilion was home to a silkworm farm in the 18th century. It will house the exhibition.
