In the early summer of 1944, there were more than thirty points of support forming a coherent military complex, intended to protect the entrance to the Basin, its port and the access roads to the capital of Gironde. This group of points of support consists of a first line of coastal defense defended by three batteries located at the tip of Cap Ferret, at the height of the Gaillouneys forest house and on the hill of Eden.
