Limoges Town Hall is located in the heart of the city, on the site of the Gallo-Roman forum. It was built thanks to the generosity of a citizen, Alfred Fournier, who, when he died in 1875, left his entire fortune to the municipality. Construction began in 1879\. The architectural bias reflects the taste of the nineteenth century for eclecticism: Antique, Neoclassical and Louis XIII styles coexist, a blend of reference that fits in the style of the Third Republic.
