Placed on a rocky outcrop overlooking the narrow valley of Ségur, Castelmoron d'Albret is first perceived in the middle of the vineyards when one descends from the surrounding wooded plateaus. It is by getting closer that we discover the spectacular character of its situation, the depth of the Ségur valley, the rock wall that carries the village.
Its topographical location on a rocky promontory with steep slopes gives this former stronghold an almost theatrical silhouette, which is reinforced by the embrace of the imposing fortifications that surround it. In addition, the natural defense offered by the rocky promontory is reinforced by high ramparts that encircle the village on the north, west and east sides. On the other hand, the front built on the south side, visible from the meadows bordering the Segur, has lost all defensive character: the facades are widely open, with additions such as balconies, stairs to connect these houses and gardens below the bedrock.
