Château Mauriac (Genitrix), tobacco warehouses, the crime of Langon at the station café-hotel, the Oliver family, a generation of outstanding cooks... But what can these four things have in common?
Only one thing connects them all four: the railway line opened in the mid-19th century.
This railway line was a real economic, social and tourist change for the city of Langon. But to discover more, let yourself be tempted by this visit and listen to your guide.
From anecdote to anecdote, Bruno Lacombe tells you the story of South Gironde. He will meet you in front of the station and will take you from the Mauriac castle, to the café-hotel of the station, from the end of the avenue of 19 March 1962 to the tobacco warehouses of Langon.

The prosperity of his activity led him to Langon near the Garonne and the railway to optimize the transport of goods. François Mauriac will be inspired by this place to write "Génitrix" dark and tragic work.
* The crime of Langon. On February 6, 1907, an insurance agent from La Réole arrived on the 1:30 train. He heads to the Café Hôtel de la Gare run by shady owners with a loaded judicial past. The insurance agent will be found 8 months later floating on the Garonne. Against the backdrop of theft, a crime of cruelty.
* The Oliver family, or the excellence of French gastronomy in the 20th century. 5 generations of cooks,
