In the company of a mediator, participants will drive to the site and discover the history of the occupation of the caves of Brassempouy with a guided tour of the outside of the caves.
Practical information:

  • Participants take their vehicle (carpooling possible), the trip takes about 5 min (3 km), participants then park near the site before walking to the caves. Flat gravel road of about 500 m. - Pets are not allowed on the archaeological site.

The archaeological site of the Cave of the Pope was discovered in 1880\. Between 1892 and 1897, Édouard Piette discovers to it nine statuettes of which the "Lady in the hood", the most old(former) representation of human face. The site also freed(delivered) numerous tools in flint, engraved bones and fineries.
