The medieval castle of Lesparre dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries. His lord, owner of half of the current Médoc (northern part) was one of the most powerful in the region. Originally close to the Dukes of Aquitaine, they became faithful allies of the English kings. From this powerful castle, the main tower is now a museum on 5 levels (archaeology, armament, models, old maps, cards and reports on the history of the region, explanatory panels, ancient trades, staging, etc). The roof terrace (30 m high) is accessible to the public to enjoy the panoramic view of the surroundings. At the foot of the monument, a magnificent medieval garden is visible.
Saturday, September 16, demonstrations and explanations on chainmail will be made by Mr Da Silva. Sunday (from 13:30), Mr Mauguet will dedicate his books on the history of the Médoc. So do not hesitate to take the plunge and discover the only medieval castle in the Nord-Médoc open to the public.

The castle of Lesparre-Médoc dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries. The only castle open to the public in the north of the Médoc. The site today is converted into a medieval garden, the museum on 5 levels and the roof terrace (30 m) is accessible to the public to enjoy the panoramic view. Finally, the seigneury of Lesparre, in the words of King Charles VII in 1454, was the first, largest and oldest of Guyenne (Guyenne covered much of New Aquitaine today).
