Visit of the castle of Haitze
Every year, the Herri Soinu association organises visits to a monument linked to the heritage of Ustaritz on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. This year, we are showing you the Château du Rocher. This day will take place on September 16 with the following program: 10h, 11h, 14h and 15h visits of the castle by its owner Carlos Delaborde Noguez.
17h30: lecture by Xabier Itzaina around the book «La société du Tambourin».
More lively than ever, the musical and danced traditions of the Basque Country can sometimes give the impression of timelessness that would have survived the centuries. However, here as elsewhere, traditions have a history, and only the analysis of long time can restore the thickness of permanences, mutations, borrowings that dot the history of music and dances on this territory. This book attempts to solve the enigma of contemporary recourse to tradition by analyzing the historicity of dance music and its social uses. From the menaiers enhancing the urban corporations of the Ancien régime to the contemporary socio-political uses of the charivarique farce through the rereading of music by the Basque cultural movement in the nineteenth century, this book offers a journey that is both musical and socio-historical, which, far beyond the Basque case, informs about our selective relationship to cultural heritages.
18h30: concert of the female choir Enara.
From a common passion for singing, and especially for traditional singing, the Enara women’s choir was born. Enara performs works from the seven provinces of the Basque Country, both sacred and secular, and is also interested in the songs of the world. The choir performs a cappella concert. Through his interpretations and the choice of the scores of his creative leader Jordi Freixa, he highlights the richness of the cultural heritage of the Basque Country. Since its creation in 2007, about twenty swallows have joined it.
