In the mid-1930s, the state planned to increase the production of the Bergerac national blowing snow factory in the Dordogne and create an annex. It is planned to set up a real military-industrial complex, consisting of drifting snow and associated buildings for staff housing.
For the blowing snow alone, 421 hectares are requisitioned, one fifth of the territory of the Livradais commune, mainly agricultural land of this rich alluvial plain.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, take part in visits to this old industrial site never completed, guided by the association «Mémoire de la poudrerie».
