The Société des Amis de Clairac organizes a heritage discovery walk in collaboration with the students of the Clairac elementary school, divided into 5 groups corresponding to classes from CP to CM2. Each class, accompanied by its master or mistress, as well as a «Friend of Clairac», will be guided along an original path. Through questions adapted to the age of children, they will be encouraged to «raise their eyes» to some sites or monuments of Clairac, a rich medieval city that hides along its streets medieval houses, an abbey, fountains, a church, temples, and many more. This experience will also be an opportunity to discuss the old trades that have disappeared.

If the founding of Clairac by Charlemagne is perhaps a legend, the age of this picturesque village perched on a loop of the Lot is indisputable. The wealth of its lands made the fortune of its inhabitants and of its Benedictine abbey and inhabitants. The gift of this one by Henri IV to the chapter of Saint-Jean-de-Laran in 1604 allows the head of State to be, still today, canon of honor. Clairac was also one of the centres of the Reformation in France, and the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685 led to the creation of a large Huguenot diaspora throughout the world.
