Come and discover how customs officials contribute to the preservation of an invaluable living heritage, biodiversity, during the European Heritage Days. In connection with the annual theme of living heritage, the National Museum of Customs (MND) proposes, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September, to highlight one of the unknown missions of the customs: the fight against the trafficking of endangered animal and plant species. Through seizures of naturalized specimens and objects, you will discover why certain animal and plant goods are prohibited from sale. Participate in the game «Save Your Skin» (from 7 years old): test your knowledge about species victims of poaching. In teams, browse a map and answer questions. When you arrive in a country, you will need to identify the protected species not to bring back in your suitcase. Participation is subject to availability: the first arrivals will be the first registered. To discover the museum while having fun, young people can ask for a free booklet-game.

Built in 1738 according to the plans of Jacques Gabriel, architect of the king Louis XV, the hotel of the farms of the King welcomed at origin the Firm Dress rehearsal, ancestor of the Customhouse under the old(former) Diet(Regime). Located in the south angle of the Place(Square) of the Stock Market, its neoclassical facades marked the beginning of the urban renovation of Bordeaux in the XVIIIth century. This building(ship), which accommodates even at present the services(departments) of the customhouse, shelters a remarkable courtyard which will be unusually opened to the public. Entirely laid with cobblestones, it is adorned on its western wall of a said fountain "in freezing", due to its motives drawn by the Flemish sculptor Verberckt.
