Guided tour on the theme: «The presence of the horse in the Vigean, in the 19th and 20th centuries»
Enjoy a walk in the Vigean district, where horse racing stables were set up near the Bouscat racecourse. In the mid-1970s, however, the racetrack activity declined. It is also the time when the ring road was established, creating inner and outer ring roads! Thus, the rue du Champ de Courses no longer has an outlet at the racecourse… Probably for these two reasons, the Vigeannaise stables closed in turn. But previously, coaches, jockeys and all the staff of these stables were part of the life of the neighborhood. To get to the many races at the racetrack, the jockeys rode the horses from the Vigean stables: "We were watching, it was a nice parade!" , we were told.
Come and discover the Vigean district in Eysines, to revive the past of racing stables, in this area where gardeners and artisans also lived. The proximity of the Bouscat racecourse strongly influenced the life of the Vigeanais from the end of the 19th to the 20th centuries.
