Guided tour of the exhibition "The Battle of the Hougue (1692)"
On May 29, 1692, Louis XIV’s ships confronted the Anglo-Dutch naval power. At the end of this combatseveral French units will be burned in the bay of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. The exhibition presents more than 200 objects and addresses many themes such as shipbuilding, navigation and life on board the King’s ships up to the work of marine archaeologists.

On this 28-hectare territory, the Conseil Départemental de la Manche and the Conservatoire du Littoral join forces to conserve and enhance the island’s wealth. From the Vauban fortifications to the Atlantic Wall, Tatihou has kept marks of the past. The lives of the men who stayed here can be read through landscapes and buildings. By the sea or in the middle of oyster beds at low tide, the amphibious boat takes you to the island from April to November. Tatihou is a concentrate of the maritime world. Its doors are open, enter by the one of your choice!
