After coming in 1850 as President of the Republic, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte returned to Cherbourg in 1858 under the title of Napoleon III. His arrival was part of a long trip to Normandy and Brittany. He took the new railway to the northern city of Cotentin. On the spot the emperor and the empress will receive the honors of the elect, will meet Queen Victoria, will inaugurate the basin Napoleon III and the statue of Napoleon I. The conference aims to recount the four days spent by their imperial highnesses in Cherbourg. The conference will be followed by a visit to the City Hall lounges and mainly the Empress’s Salon decorated for their visit.
