The Saint-Jean de Beauregard vegetable garden is a masterly interpretation of the art of the flower garden and is one of the favourite destinations for garden lovers around the world. Natural extension of the dovecote and typical of the 17th century vegetable gardens, it has been completely restored according to the original plans preserved in the archives.
With its four thousand five hundred boulins, the dovecote of Saint-Jean de Beauregard is one of the largest in Ile-de-France. Its double swivel ladder, 12 meters high and its spectacular frame make it an essential point of the visit of the Estate.
Almost all of the park remained “à la française”. Planted with oaks, ash trees, chestnuts and charms, natural species in the region, it is criss-crossed by star-shaped alleys forming beautiful perspectives, and, at their intersection, glades with greening cabinet, according to the plans of the eighteenth century. Part of the park was transformed in English at the beginning of the 19th century, allowing the creation of a piece of water and the introduction of new tree species for the time: cedars, chestnut trees of India in particular.
