On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the National Office of Combatants and War Victims organizes a guided tour of the Algerian War Memorial and the battles of Morocco and Tunisia. Inaugurated on December 5, 2002 by Jacques Chirac, this memorial pays tribute to the men, women, members of the alternate formations, called of the contingent or volunteers who died for France as well as to the civilian victims or disappeared on the margins of the conflict in Algéri, in Morocco and Tunisia between 1952 and 1964. More than 26,000 victim names scroll through the three white and red blue columns.
