Discovery of Saint-Denis Rail Cathedrals

Journey within the former railway depot of La Plaine. These steam and diesel locomotive maintenance and repair shops, built in 1874, operated until 1990. Since 2004, these buildings have been included in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments.

Located on a 5.5-hectare plot between the North Railway Yard and President Wilson Avenue in Saint-Denis, the Rail Cathedrals sector corresponds to the former SNCF repair shops of the Plaine. It owes its name to the presence of two former railway halls belonging to the industrial heritage of Saint-Denis.
