Les Catacombes de Paris
1 avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy 75014 Paris
Located in the heart of a labyrinth of underground galleries, 20 meters underground, the catacombs of Paris are an exceptional geological, archaeological and historical site.
The huge municipal ossuary houses the remains of several million Parisians. Originating from the inner-city cemeteries of Paris, these bones were transferred to a part of the old limestone quarries located south of Paris, between the late 18th and the middle of the 19th century.
The tour is accessed by a staircase of a hundred steps. Count 1 hour of visit over a distance of about 1.5 km.
