On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, come and discover the Pecq-Croissy drinking water production plant on 16 September!

Come and discover the operation of this extraordinary site by its management of the underground resource that supplies softened water to nearly 400,000 inhabitants of 20 municipalities in the north of Yvelines since 2019.
This drinking water plant has a production capacity of 160,000 m3 per day.

What you will discover during this tour:

  • Groundwater recharge, an innovative technique implemented by SUEZ Eau France that helps maintain an optimum level of water in groundwater and improve its quality. At the Pecq-Croissy site, the replenishment plant captures water from the Seine to replenish the water table, through 10 basins. The water of the Seine is decanted, then filtered, eliminating suspended particles. It is then sent to seepage basins where it slowly seeps into the ground until it reaches the water table, 15 meters deep.
  • La Coulée Verte: a development carried out in 2006 in the heart of the water table recharge basins to allow visitors to better understand the water cycle. There are a hundred species of birds that come to migrate and reproduce. Ornithological facilities (nest boxes, wood piles, islets, differentiated management) have also been installed to promote their well-being. The site is classified as a natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF). The site is labeled EcoJardin since 2017.
  • Collective softening: achieved through advanced technology, decarbonation removes excess limestone for the comfort of users. Each year, nearly 2,000 tons of calcium carbonate balls are recovered as backfill for the roads or the filling of old quarries in the Paris region

Additional Information:

  • Provide closed shoes.
  • The visits last 2h30.
  • The site is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
  • Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the tour.
