About the location

Fontaine de Sainte Mesme
1 rue Charles Legaigneur 78730 Sainte-Mesme

In the 5th century, Saint Mesme was the daughter of the Frankish king Dordanus. One of the servants of the house of Dordanus made him know the Christian religion without his relatives knowing it. Furious at the news that his daughter was denying the pagan gods, he asked his son Mesmin to cut off his sister’s head to save the family’s honor.
But the Franks did not skimp on the sacrifices. Saint Mesmin buried his sister’s head just where a miraculous spring springs. Its water heals fevers.
