Built by architect Jean Courtonne for Antoine-François de La Trémoille, duc de Noirmoutier in 1724, this hotel was modified in 1734 for Alexandrine de Bourbon-Condé, comtesse de Sens. Owned by the State since 1814, the Hotel de Noirmoutier successively houses the Compagnie des Gardes du Comte d'Artois, the future Charles X, then the Staff Application School. The Chief of the General Staff of the Army settled there in 1893\. Marshal Foch lived there from 1919 to 1929, the year of his death. In 1970, the Hotel de Noirmoutier became the residence of the prefect of the Île-de-France region, prefect of Paris. Between courtyard and garden, the Hotel de Noirmoutier nourishes the imagination and skillfully mixes testimonies of the past and contemporary heritage: the carved panels of the dining room represent animal scenes inspired by the Fables of the Fountain. They rub shoulders with two large contemporary tapestries ("Le Drapeau français" after Denis Doria and "Collage" after Antoni Clavé) i
