Visit of the Hotel de Castries
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Hôtel de Castries, which currently houses the Delegate Ministry for Democratic Renewal and the Porte-parolat of the Government, opens its doors to you.
Built in 1696, it is one of the oldest in the faubourg Saint-Germain. Work carried out under the July Monarchy and then at the beginning of the Second Empire gave it its current appearance. On the ground floor as on the first floor, you can admire superb Louis XV style rooms decorated with woodwork after Jacques Verbeckt, famous ornamental sculptor who worked for Versailles. Illustrious personalities frequented the premises: Mozart even gave harp lessons there! Today, these lounges have been set up to welcome the Ministry and the Minister’s office will be exceptionally open to visitors.
The course will also allow you to discover the hidden garden of the hotel, a haven of greenery in the heart of Paris, labeled ecogarden in 2022.
