The house Agutte Sembat is one of the main tourist interests of the city of Bonnières. It represents an undisputed attraction with its history, the quality of its heritage, the richness of its art collection and the activities it offers. It is a dwelling of art and living history. This house is that of Marcel Sembat, lawyer, politician and journalist and Georgette Agutte, painter and a talented sculptor. They are an outstanding couple of the Belle Epoque, who received many personalities, from Matisse to Jaurès and has built a very important collection of works of art. When Georgette Agutte committed suicide a few hours after the death of Marcel Sembat in 1922 she decided to bequeath a large part of this collection to a provincial museum, it will be Grenoble. The letters, in possession of the city, are exhibited in the house. The couple is buried in the cemetery of Bonnières-sur-Seine on September 7 at a funeral where a huge crowd takes part, long after this date will be commemorated by the socialist companions of Sembat. A 19th century residence, it retains the imprint of its illustrious occupants and deserves investment in its renovation.
