Born from the need to expand and modernize the National Library, the François-Mitterrand site opened in 1996. A monumental expression of the so-called minimalist trend of contemporary architecture, it now houses more than 14 million books, prints, newspapers but also more than 1.5 million audiovisual documents, videos, multimedia...
Take advantage of the European Heritage Days to explore the backstage of the building and its emblematic architecture, visit the garden or the restoration workshops, discover the reading rooms usually reserved for researchers, or participate in creative family workshops.
