On the occasion of the 40th edition of the European Heritage Days, the public institution Rebâtir Notre-Dame de Paris offers an exceptional dive into the heart of the restoration with a village of the site that will be held on the square of the cathedral.
On the program of this weekend: meetings, conferences, demonstrations and participatory workshops with all the trades that work for the rebirth of the monument: project management teams and project management, companions, craftsmen, diocese of Paris, DRAC Île-de-France and scientists.
The trades highlighted this year will be those of mason-stonemason, carpenter, roofer, roofer-ornemaniste, restorer of paintings, sculptor and master glassmaker. You will discover the great operations and works on which they work with enthusiasm and determination: restitution of the frames, reconstruction of the vaults and the carved elements, restoration of the cover and its ornaments as well as the restoration of paintings and stained glass. The teams of the diocese of Paris will present on this occasion the choice made for the interior design of the cathedral, the scientists the progress of their work on the monument and the teams of the regional direction of Cultural Affairs of Île-Saint-Jeande-France will present the operations for which they are responsible: restoration of the chancel carpet, easel paintings, goldsmithery or statues of the arrow.
