The Military School is located in the heart of Paris at one of the ends of the Champ de Mars (7th arrdt), facing the Eiffel Tower.
Founded in 1751 during the reign of Louis XV, it saw passing between its walls Napoleon I who was even a student, Queen Victoria, Napoleon III, General De Gaulle or Pope John Paul II. It was declared a historic monument in 1990.
You can have lunch on site thanks to the catering offered by the Cercle mess and in the enclosed garden of the Leclerc-Almandet courtyard. Access to the self from 11h30 to 14h30

Louis XV, at the instigation of the Paris brothers and Madame de Pompadour, set his sights on the plain of Grenelle, a former Garenne, which was part of the Sainte-Geneviève abbey and part of the Hôtel des Invalides in order to create a military school. Ange-Jacques Gabriel was chosen to design and ensure the construction of the buildings. In 1773, the work was completed. The royal courtyard is framed by porticoes with Doric columns on the ground floor and Ionic upstairs. The central body or castle dominates it without ostentation, decorated with colossal Corinthian columns and surmounted by a quadrangular dome. In 1780, the architect Gabriel being 82 years old, the architect Boullée, then the architect Théodore Brongniart who completes the work and finishes in particular the side pavilions of the castle.
